Use of the Area by the Locals

traditional Migration during the Year

Grassland is an important Resource for the Nomads

The Great Gobi B is an important grazing land for the local population. In winter, up to one hundred families live with over 60'000 domestic animals in the National Park’s buffer zone. During migration in spring and autumn they migrate on their traditional routes through the park. whereas in summer they live in the Altai mountains.

Their homes are the traditional yurts. Those big tents made out of wooden framework and upholstered by cotton and felt materials during wintertime are easily built up and down for migration.
